Mental Health in Primary & Secondary Education
In primary and secondary school settings , children are centered within a context of friends, teachers, coaches, administrators, and support staff. Conceptualized as the Collective Experience, the Collective includes the community of people from whom scholars gather insight, wisdom, and expectations regarding relationships, academic success, and coping skills. The Individual Experience encompasses the decisions scholars make about their identities, how they feel their feelings, and who to trust with the trauma they experience.
Our approach encourages scholars to name the barriers and opportunities within both their individual and collective experience and identify systems of oppression that prevent liberation in their relationships with themselves and others. The goal is to bring synergy to the experiences of scholars and that will eventually heal and empower our communities.
